Today we are remembering Ingrid's passing one year on, and the legacy she leaves behind. It's been a tough year for all of us but there have been many moments where we were able to celebrate her life and achievements.

Ingrid's Blog

Soon after Ingrid's passing we learned that her blog in the Nursing Times had attracted a lot of attention, with some posts hitting many thousands of reads. We are are delighted by all the positive responses we have received from readers and ever so proud that she has been awarded the Columnist of the Year award from the British Society of Magazine Editors (BSME, November 2022) as well as the Professional Publishers Association (PPA, June 2023). We're ever so grateful to Steve Ford, editor of the Nursing Times, for nominating Ingrid for these prestigious awards 🏆🏆

Recently her blog was also highlighted in Dutch newspaper De Limburger. The paper reaches the area where she grew up, bringing her story to people from her youth and sparking many lovely responses.

The Ingrid Fuchs Cancer Nursing Award

Nursing Times recently renamed their annual cancer nursing award in Ingrid's honour. This award shines a light on the brightest talent in cancer nursing and recognises innovation, patient focus and inclusiveness in nursing.

Sunflower Mobile Screening Unit

Avon Breast Screening, where Ingrid worked as a Clinical Nurse Specialist has opened a new mobile breast screening unit, allowing the screening of an additional 180 women per week. This will help to detect breast cancer early for more women and futureproof breast screening in Bristol and the surrounding area. Official opening if the unit is planned for this summer and it will be named The Sunflower, in Ingrid's honour, reflecting her radiant personality 🌻

The ICE Challenge

Friends and colleagues completed a winter wild swimming challenge in memory of Ingrid. The 'Ingrid's Challenge Extraordinaire' raised hundred's of pounds for hospice care charity Dorothy House, which helped care for Ingrid in her final weeks. Many thanks to Caroline, Angie and Julie for their amazing efforts in the icy waters 🥶

The IF Hawk trail

Vince, Ingrid's running mate has been marking their running trails with beautiful hand carved hawks. You may come across one on the local trails and know that you are treading in Ingrid's footsteps 👣
